About Me28th Jan 2015
I was born on Good Friday 1976 on the south Cornish coast near the River Fowey in a small village called Golant. Although I had moved to London by the time I was 2 I have always considered this part of Cornwall my spiritual home and visit it regularly.
I've always been very interested in composition and started making my own pieces when I was about 12. I had been greatly inspired by singing Mozart's Requiem with my school choir and had wanted to try making my own pieces. After completing a music A level I studied composition at Exeter University with Philip Grange - a pupil of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.
Around the same time I was introduced to the Mo'Wax label and became fascinated with the music of DJ Shadow and the trip-hop genre in general and, through my friend Carl Hovland who introduced me to Cubase, started making my own tracks release under the pseudonym: The Legendary Danny K - also timing with the launch of mp3.com and other music distribution platforms in which I played an active part and released 8 albums between 1999 and 2009.
Around this time I returned to orchestral composition and have composed a ballet (The Black Rose), numerous pieces for chamber ensemble and a handful of pieces for soprano and orchestra.
